Buffalo Tours was founded by Tran Trong Kien, a young medical doctor with a passion for Adventure Travel, in 1994 as a small tour operator in Hanoi. In the beginning the company comprised of nothing more than a table and telephone which never seemed to ring. Eventually however the calls started to come and Buffalo Tours began to be recognized and acknowledged as a leading adventure travel company with great ideas!
Buffalo Tours pioneered the introduction of various adventure travel activities and areas to the modest adventure travel map of Vietnam. We single-handedly developed the region of Mai Chau for trekking from 1994. We introduced the first sea kayaking tours in Halong Bay in 1997 using Wood Kayaks. Buffalo Tours also expanded in to other regions, opening offices in Ho Chi Minh City (1998), Siem Reap, Cambodia (2000) and recently in Phnom Penh.
Over the years, we have introduced a wide range of great travelling styles in the region which cater to all needs and preferences. Today Buffalo Tours is an internationally-renowned, award-winning travel company, spanning Indochina and employing more than 200 staff. Last year we provided tours to over 12,000 satisfied clients. Our philosophy for success however has not changed to do the seemingly impossible, to choose paths others fear to tread and to empower the local community. |
