Tignes used to offer skiing for 365 days a year, (the only reason it doesn’t any more is because of the lack of Autumn lift-ticket sales). It has the highest of all the European skiable Glaciers and so it is hardly surprisingly that Tignes has the best snow record in the Alps to go with it!
Off Piste/Freeride
Tignes has an incredible amount of Off Piste and is characteristic of wide, open expanses of terrain perfect in
the powder. Tignes gets some great powder dumps and the Off Piste is very expansive and easy to get to which lessens the need to hike for snow and of course it doesn't get tracked out so quickly. The slopes in Tignes have been purpose built and are highly efficient, which allows for some effortless carving and Freeriding on manicured and mogul-free pistes. Perfect for fast cruising intermediates and advanced skiers and riders. The profile of the mountain is very smooth so Freeriders are furnished with a multitude of powder field opportunities.
Freestyle
The Pipe and park in Tignes is legendary, it usually has permanent shapers and is cut and groomed by people who really know how to use Pipe Dragons! The park is maintained daily and so it is usually in very good condition, with a range of jumps for all abilities.
Beginners
The slopes that characterise Tignes are very wide and well kept, therefore the moguls and bumps are minimal. This is great news for the beginners, as it allows them to cruise around and cover a lot of ground effortlessly without narrow and congested runs to put you off your turns.
Resort life:
Tignes Les Brevieres is the pretty part of Tignes with lovely old architecture, and it’s appearance and atmosphere is further improved by the fact that it is always caked in so much snow! Night life in Tignes is very good indeed, with some late night bars and pubs on offer in Les Brevieres. |

Chalet Josephine and Napoleon are two identical 12 person chalets next door to each other. They can be taken on a shared basis (couples and small groups) or each chalet can be booked for sole occupancy. Larger groups can take both chalets. Our Premium chalet in Tignes Les Brevieres is an all-new luxury chalet that is being finished over spring 2005 to an exceptional standard of build quality.
In keeping with local architecture the chalet is built from natural wood and stone. The interior has been architecturally designed to be spacious and accommodating with views from the chalet to extend over the lake at Les Brevieres. The chalet features a wonderful stone fire place for cosy evenings in, and full entertainment facilities and all en suite bedrooms.
The chalet is located 550 metres from the shops, bars, ski slopes and lifts. The benefit of Chalet Josephine in Tignes Les Brevieres is that it has direct access to the best Glacier skiing in the Alps (Tignes) but without the ugliness and blandness of Tignes Le Lac which sits higher up on the the level above. Tignes Les Brevieres is still situated at an impressive 1550m but retains a lively and quaint resort-like feel about it and no "moon base" characteristics that are typical of Tignes Le Lac. |
