We invite you to become a part of a new and unique conservation and animal rehabilitation adventure situated in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. This programme is exclusive to Vivisto and we want you to be a part of it.
You will assist with the re-introduction of indigenous animals and other wildlife back to an area that has seen numbers diminish in recent years due to mans' intervention. Over farming, poaching and the decreasing amount of land available for wildlife to live in its natural surroundings has put many species into the endangered category.
Our programme is run and developed by volunteers and relies on your passion for wildlife, your participation in ongoing conservation work and your motivation to make a difference, to bring this vast area back to how nature intended it to be.
Most recently Modgaji Projects has been working with De Wildt Wild Cheetah Project, Mohoholo and The Cheetah Management Forum. Through these initiatives, this has resulted in the successful release and rehabilitation of Cheetah, Lion, Brown Hyena, Elephant, Caracal, Serval and Spotted Hyena. This programme needs your help to continue with the success of this project. You may be involved in the following activities.

Passive capture of Impala
Bush clearing - removing old fences, bricks, litter
Serval breeding projects
Individual identification profiles for different species of animals and plants
Planning new roads for the future
Feeding animals undergoing rehabilitation
Monitoring and re-introducing game when required
Constructing boundary fences and bomas (enclosures)
Fencing
Cleaning enclosures
Vegetation monitoring
Bush clearing
Digging compost heaps
Snare patrols
Control and removal of alien plantation
Community work with local children from surrounding school/orphanage in Steytlerville
Repairing water pipes
Due to the nature of the work carried out on the game reserve, your involvement will vary and we cannot guarantee that you will be involved all activities above. Volunteers need to be motivated, be able to use their own initiative and be keen to get involved in all forms of conservation work.
