The Land of Waterfalls
The highlights of this multi-activity adventure trip are hiking, biking and canoeing along the lakes and waterfalls of world heritage site - Plitvice Lakes National Park in Lika, Croatia, and rivers in the area. You will discover wonderful landscapes of 16 lakes and hundreds of waterfalls, paddle on Mreznica, Zrmanja and Krupa rivers in Dalmatia and raft on Dobra or Una rivers (along the border between Croatia and Bosnia).

& Highlights |

Day 1- Saturday:
Arrival to Korana Village in Plitvice Lakes National Park (transfer from Zagreb airport and/or train station is available). Get-together barbecue party in the evening by the river.
Day 2:
Bicycling and hiking through the park to Proscansko Lake, the highest and second biggest of 16 lakes. Bike along the Black River to its source and explore the lakes and waterfalls. Late in the afternoon we will return to the village for dinner.
Day 3:
Expedition into canyon and waterfalls of Mreznica River, with lots of swimming and fun. This is the most beautiful part of the river, where the water temperature in Summer can reach 25 degrees Celsius. We travel down deep, narrow canyon and many waterfalls - up to 10 meters high. Later in the day we shall visit Rastoke mills, streams and waterfalls for a romantic dinner.
Day 4:
An easy day to be enjoyed in the village. Walking, swimming, hiking in the neighbourhood.
Day 5:
A bus will take us towards south for canoeing down the magnificent wild-west-like canyons of Zrmanja and Krupa Rivers. Easy rapids, swimming in clear waters and under waterfalls, riverside picnic. In the late afternoon we shall visit the fishermen’s town Novigrad, in Novigrad Bay of the Adriatic Sea.
Day 6:
Hiking in the lower lakes and highest of waterfalls of the national park.
Day 7:
A day free to relax or make a private trip in the park. Optionally you can go to nearby Bosnian town of Bihac for unforgetable rafting trip in Una River Canyon, ending with a real Bosnian lunch and Turkish coffee. Another exciting rafting option is the Dobra River (depending on water levels).
Day 8:
Departure in the morning.
The itinerary is subject to change depending on group abilities and preferences, weather, water levels, special events of interest and similar. Huck Finn guides and trip leaders will do their best to provide the best possible but safe experience for their clints. This may mean changing the original itinerary to avoid discomfort or risk that may be caused by extensive heat or cold, stormy weather or heavy traffic and similar. You will stay in local families houses in Korana Village, a small romantic place by the waterfall and the river of the same name in Plitvice Lakes National Park. The houses are small, with roof traditionally made of wooden tiles, with simple rooms and perfect surroundings – meadows, hills, river and waterfalls. The peaceful atmosphere will make you sleep well and all other time is spent outdoors – including breakfasts or barbecue picnics by the river, in the garden full of flowers and butterflies. |
