Sail in the sunshine this Autumn in Madeira

Madeira – ‘the green pearl of the Atlantic’ is a lush green island situated in the Atlantic ocean between the Azores and the Canary islands. Warmed by the Gulf Stream the temperature rarely drops below 14 degrees in the winter. We can expect temperatures up to 18 degrees at the end of November. 30 nm to the North East of Madeira is the tiny island of Porto Santo, this island is famous for its 9km golden sandy beach.
Join us as we explore these magnificent islands, so close to each other but so different in vegetation and feel.

• Walk along the golden sandy beach in Porto Santo

Our Voyage highlights include

This is a sample itinerary only – each week we alter the itinerary to suit the weather

Day 1 – Arrive on board 1800. Welcome reception, introductions and itinerary discussion. Dinner followed by safety briefing

Day 2 - Learn about the boat and where things are kept – sail along the spectacular coastline, to the eastern end of the island and spend the night in the new modern marina Quinto de Lorde. Walk up the road and climb over the hill to get a contrasting view of the north coast of the island

Day 3 – We set off early on a longer sail to Porto Santo – a completely contrasting island 30 nm away

Day 4 – We spend the day ashore exploring Porto Santo

Day 5– We sail back to Madeira and spend the night at anchor. We will have applied for permission to visit the Desertas Islands if the weather is suitable

Day 6 – We sail further west along the coastline to Calheta, a small old town where they still make Rum from the sugar cane.

Day 7 – We sail back east to Funchal, the beautiful capital city. Explore ashore in Funchal

Day 8 – Breakfast, depart

Accommodation is aboard our 55ft Oyster Yacht "Velvet Lady"

Our full time skipper Lin and Mate Richard are there to look after you, prepare meals and encourage you to take part in all aspects of sailing the yacht. Lin is a qualified sailing instructor so we are happy to take all levels from beginner to experience yachtsman.

We take a maximum of 6 guests in 3 twin cabins. Each cabin with access to own shower/toilet. There is a spacious saloon, and well equipped galley and navigation areas.
