Saturday
Arrival and Introduction
On arrival at the Keswick Country House Hotel there will be time to settle in before an introductory meeting and dinner with your guide for the week.
Sunday
Mountain Experience Day
You can’t visit the Lake District without climbing a few hills!! Guided by a qualified mountain leader we head out for a day's walking in the mountains and fells taking in the natural beauty of some of England's finest scenery. Along the way we will throw in some games and, depending on the route, visit caves, mines and rivers. This is a great way to discover this lesser known part of the Lake District and get to know the other families on the holiday. Picnic lunch.
Monday
Rock Climbing and Abseiling
Our experienced guides and instructors take you to a local rock face where the climbing is suitable for everybody in the group. We spend a full day climbing and abseiling with full tuition and support provided. Picnic lunch.
Tuesday
Gorge Scrambling
Our half day of gorge scrambling is invariably a huge hit with both children and adults alike. Following a short uphill walk alongside the gorge at Stonycroft Ghyll we make our way downstream with a series of scrambles, slides, ducks, dives, swims and jumps – a water park but in a wonderful outdoor and natural setting. Bar or café lunch.
Wednesday
Watersports Day
Today we head for Derwent Water “Queen of the English Lakes” for a full day of water based activities including Canadian canoeing and dinghy sailing. Depending on the weather, we may also be able to include a Viking longship and some dragon boating on the lake. Picnic lunch.
Thursday
The Borrowdale Challenge
To round off the week, we have come up with a fun-filled family competition packed with games, activities and challenges designed to get everybody working, playing and laughing together. Depending on local conditions your day may involve activities as diverse as problem solving exercises, archery, orienteering, tree climbing, coracle building and river crossing. Picnic lunch.
Friday
Depart or Extend Your Stay
If you are only staying with us for 6 nights then today is departure day. However, there is so much to see and do in The Lake District that you may well want to extend your stay. If so, we can arrange extra nights at the hotel in Keswick. If you wish to book additional activities, our local activity partners will be happy to help you do so.

This holiday is based at the 3-Star Keswick Country House Hotel situated just 5 minutes walk from the centre of the bustling market town of Keswick. The hotel stands proudly in four acres of gardens and enjoys views of the Latrigg and Skiddaw Mountains. The location is perfect for a family holiday as the Keswick Leisure Pool is directly opposite the hotel and neighbours two parks with tennis and skateboard facilities.
The hotel itself is warm and welcoming with 74 tastefully decorated bedrooms. Each bedroom has a private bathroom with shower and guest toiletries, colour television, radio, hairdryer and tea and coffee making facilities.
The hotel restaurant offers an extremely good and varied menu and we strongly recommend the half board option. |
