Hrútfjallstindar alpine peaks on the Vatnajökull Glacier

Mountain climbing trip from Skaftafell.

When it comes to big alpine routes and impressive peaks in Iceland the upper reaches of the Svnafellsj¶kull in Skaftafell is the undisputed master of ceremony. There the Hrºtfjallstindar peaks rise valiantly up between the Svnafellsj¶kull and the Skaftafellsj¶kull and the four shapely peaks range from 1756 meters to 1875. These impressive spires offer some great challenging, non-technical, to extremely difficult alpine climbing.

Along the way and from the top the view is magnificent, on bluebird days it is certainly one of the great mountain views the world has to offer. Below the lush Skaftafell oasis and enormous outlet glaciers stretched out towards the black sand beaches and the North Atlantic. To the North the Vatnaj¶kull glacier ice cap, Europeâs largest is also revealed with its millennia old ice coat and beautiful peaks jutting up from its flanks. Our standard ascent is one that requires no technical alpine climbing but participants have to be in very good excellent physical condition.

We offer more demanding alpine climbing up on request and on private guiding basis. Contact us for the South face and All 4 summits (April - June)
