Winter Wilderness

You'll embark on a series of snow-based activities from your cosy hotel base (complete with sauna) which is located well above the Arctic Circle. Starting with cross-country skiing, your guide will show you the way this activity should be done in a special school and then you're free to practice! Once mastered, you'll move on to snowshoeing - a fantastic way to get about in this frozen landscape. You'll also have the opportunity to take an exciting snowmobile excursion across Lake Inari. With any luck the spectacular Northern Lights will make an appearance at least one night during the week of your exciting activity holiday.

Huskies & reindeers

After learning all about the local Sami culture at the SIIDA Museum, you'll visit a reindeer farm for an insight into the life of a herder and a fun sleigh ride. Then enjoy a tobogganing activity around the village and learn about the art of dog-sledding. Finally head out with a team of huskies across the frozen snow for a great end to a action-packed holiday.

Native Sami

Native Sami peoples live all over Northern Lapland across Finland, Norway, Sweden and bits of Russia, only giving up their nomadic lifestyle between 1962 and 1972. Inari proudly boasts strong links to Sami culture, including various EU backed initiatives to preserve the culture and educate others about it. This brings rights, for example a Parliament, and initiatives such as a dedicated radio station and schools.
