Discover Chile
Chile’s enormous length – 4300 km from the Bolivian border to Cape Horn - encompasses practically every climatic and scenic variation that the world has to offer. In the far north is the Atacama Desert, the driest in the world. In the middle is the fertile and heavily populated Valle Central, the engine room of Chile’s current prosperity, where, amongst other things, the now famous vineyards are situated.

Beyond this is the Lake District, a picture-postcard paradise of mountains, volcanoes, lakes and ancient Valdivian rain forests. From here the lonely Camino Austral winds south, with fantastic Andean scenery on the mainland, and along the coast an impenetrable maze of mountainous islands that makes up the Chilean archipelago. Next - inaccessible by land from the north - are the wind-lashed plains, sub-Antarctic ice fields and extraordinary mountains of southern Patagonia. Finally, across the Straits of Magellan, comes Tierra del Fuego, the islands at the end of the inhabited world, shared with Argentina and ending on the treacherous shores of Cape Horn.
