Beginner Kitesurfing Holiday in Mauritius

Beginner, freeride, freestyle, entry level wave sailing and hardcore wave sailing; this place has it all. Instruction is also offered, in all three sports, so getting to that next level should be no problem with the expert tuition you will receive. If you want any specific coaching, such as wave tuition then this is also available, albeit, in the form of one on one coaching for safety and quality reasons.

With 18 windsurfing, 11 kitesurfing and 5 surfboard riding centers worldwide, they are one of the leading companies in this industry. As with all of the Skyriders centres they have a big stock of all the newest North Kites and Boards and have an unrivalled level of instruction on hand.

Kitesurfing on the island is a big thing here as there are an abundance of lagoons with offshore reefs stopping the swell, making for super flat water on the inside. Not only are the flat water locations good, but if you have the required skill, then the wave riding potential is huge.

THE WIND
The trade winds blow all year, but the most consistent time to head to Mauritius is between May and December where you would be unlucky not to get F6 most of the time. At Le Morne, the wind blows side shore from the left. The only thing to watch out for is the small current that runs out of the bay, but with rescue cover, this is never really a problem.

Good surf happens all year, due to the fact that storms spinning out of the South Pole will pump swell straight towards this tiny island and break along it's coast, giving magazine quality waves!

THE INDIAN RESORT
The Indian Resort must certainly be one of the best hotels in our programme. The extensive complex, with 350 rooms, offers sufficient alternatives for all tastes. Commencing with 6 excellent restaurants (main restaurant with buffet, French, Italian or Ind
Rooms: There are 2 categories of rooms. First, there are the Marine rooms, which surfers prefer, as they are near the surf centre, and then there are the Indian-style rooms, which are slightly more elegantly appointed and are on the other side of the rece.

SUNSET VILLA APARTMENTS
The Sunset Villa apartments are situated in the village of La Gaulette, about 6 km from the Club Mistral/Skyriders Center. We recommend renting a car for your entire stay. Shopping is also possible in La Gaulette. The Sunset Villa apartments are located in a quiet area on a hillside, with views to Le Morne mountain and bay. The house, with its 2 apartments, is surrounded by a small garden. The house and garden are very well tended and the apartments are cleaned daily, if requested. A wireless LAN connection is available for as little as €10/week.
Apartment 1 has 3 bedrooms (max. 6 persons), a spacious living room, kitchen, bathroom, 2 balconies, 1 with sea views. Apartment 2 has 1 bedroom (max. 3 persons), living room, bathroom, terrace and garden. We can also offer a 4 bedroom apartment for larger parties.

PIK PIK STUDIOS
The Pik Pik Studios, a more reasonably priced alternative to the Indian Resort Hotel, are at the foot of Brabant Mountain, about 2 miles from our Club Mistral/Skyriders centre. You can either rent a car or go by bike; bikes are available free of charge from the owner, Gilbert. It is about 2 miles to La Gaulette, where you will find shopping facilities. The studios are surrounded by gardens and have a tennis court and swimming pool. Gilbert is an extremely friendly, helpful person, prepared to do almost anything to make his guests feel at home. There are also two BBQ areas, where you can enjoy freshly caught fish in the evening.
The 8 studios are simply and functionally appointed; they have a kitchenette with gas cooker, cutlery and fridge. There is an open living room next to the bedroom, with seating and TV. The small bathroom has a shower and toilet. All the studios have a patio, fan and a/c.
