Bron Elliw
Rural luxury detached cottage sleeps 8, 4 bedrooms in mountains with rivers and garden stream and log fires
Bron Elliw is a beautifully situated holiday cottage which is equipt with comfortable funishings and the most top quality beds and bedding. We were proud to be awarded 5 stars from the North Wales tourist board last year.
Bron Elliw is situated at the very heart of the Snowdonia National Park, an are of 838 square miles. The Park's entire coastline is a Special Area of Conservation, which runs from the Llŷn Peninsula down the mid-Wales coast, the latter containing valuable sand dune systems.
The Park's natural forests are of the mixed deciduous type, the commonest tree being the Welsh Oak. Birch, Ash, Mountain-ash and Hazel are also common. The Park also contains some large (planted) coniferous forested areas such as Gwydir Forest between Blaenau Ffestiniog an Betws-y-Coed, although some areas, once harvested, are now increasingly being allowed to regrow naturally.
Northern Snowdonia is the only place in Britain where the Snowdon Lily, an arctic-alpine plant, and the rainbow-coloured Snowdon beetle (Chrysolina cerealis) are found, and the only place in the world where the Snowdonia hawkweed Hieracium snowdoniense grows.
Rare mammals in the park include otters, polecats, and the feral goat, although the Pine Marten has not been seen for many years, it may still survive in the wilder parts. Rare birds include Raven, Peregrine, Osprey, M and the Red Kite.
Most exciting have been the recent sightings of Otters feeding in the garden of Bron Elliw, next to the stream! Where also there are an abundance of wild birds that visit our bird table, among them are our local Greater-spotted Woodpeckers, many Blue & Great Tits, Chaffinches, Dunnocks, Robins and even the occasional Yellow Hammer
