The princely state of Rajasthan is packed with palaces, forts, temples and countless other sites. You’ll journey to the lakeside city of Udaipur, before heading into the Aravalli hills to see the beautiful Jain temples at Ranakpur. Next you head to Rajasthan’s second city, Jodhpur, to see the dramatic cliff top fort of Meherangarh Fort before staying in the Thar Desert, in the ‘Golden City’ of Jaisalmer, its magical fort standing high above the town. There will also be the chance to venture into the desert by camel for sunset. You stop to see the painted villages at Nawalgarh before heading to sleepy Pushkar, a place of pilgrimage for devout Hindus and home to one of the few Brahma temples in India. A myriad of colours and sights await you at Jaipur and before heading back to Delhi, you pause in Agra to visit the Taj Mahal, arguably the most enduring monument to love in the world. You can also visit during the Pushkar Camel Fair, one of the most popular and colourful fairs in the Thar Desert, when thousands of animals are paraded.

Temples & Palaces
From Delhi you take an overnight train to Udaipur. At Udaipur the City Palace overlooks the renowned Lake Palace Hotel, surrounded by water on all sides. Your adventure continues to Ranakpur, situated amongst the Aravali Hills. It has one of the most important Jain temples in India and is a lovely place to wander around.

Pushkar Camel Fair
For several days each year people and animals flock to the usually tranquil town of Pushkar for one of the most popular and colourful fairs in the Thar Desert. Thousands of camels, horses and cows are paraded, raced and traded. See Dates & Prices for trips visiting the fair.

Desert, Forts & The Taj Mahal
Situated amongst the Aravali hills, Ranakpur has one of the most important Jain temples in India and is a lovely place to wander around. At Udaipur, the City Palace overlooks the renowned Lake Palace Hotel, surrounded by water on all sides. Your adventure continues to the holy lakeside town of Pushkar, before moving on to the ‘Pink City’ of Jaipur and finally the stunning Taj Mahal.
