Sample 5 Day Itinerary
Day 1
On arrival at Kittila you will transfer to your cosy accommodation. This evening you will meet with your guide for an introductory dinner. Overnight in cabins at the activity centre.
Day 2 to 4
After breakfast on day two you will be provided with all the necessary equipment for your safari including thermal overalls, boots, socks, mittens, helmet and exhibition grade sleeping bag. Your guides will provide a thorough safety briefing and comprehensive instruction on how to drive and get the most from your 380cc snowmobile.
Please note, you must possess a full driving licence to join this holiday and will be asked to show your licence before setting off.
After loading your baggage on to the sled which will be pulled behind your guide’s snowmobile, it’s off onto the snowy trails.
The safari covers distances of between 80 and 100kms every day and takes you into some of the wildest areas of Fell Lapland. A huge network of carefully managed snowmobile trails covers the entire region including lake and river crossings, forests and fells. Your guide will always endeavour to follow the routes that combine stunning countryside and thrilling driving.
Each day will provide new and exciting challenges, from negotiating the more technical forest trails to going full throttle across frozen lakes. At first, handling the powerful machines can seem a bit daunting but as the snowmobile safari progresses, you will find that your skills improve enhancing your enjoyment all the more.
During the afternoon of day 4 you will arrive back at the Wilderness Centre for a delicious farewell meal and your last night will be spent back in the comfort of the cabins.
Day 5
After breakfast you will be transferred back to Kittila Airport for your return flights home. Alternatively, we can arrange to extend your stay and try other winter activities such as husky and reindeer safaris, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.
