Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City – My Tho (cycling distance 65km)
We drive out of Ho Chi Minh City to avoid cycling through the heavily congested streets. Once we are safely out of the suburbs and in the delta we commence our cycling. Along the way to our destination of My Tho we stop to visit a colorful Cao Dai temple. The Cao Dai sect is unique to Vietnam and is a hybrid of the world’s main religions. At My Loi we transfer by ferry to cross one of the many tributaries of the Mekong River. We continue cycling through a particularly picturesque part of the delta known as Go Cong. From here it is a further 25km to the town of My Tho where we will stay for the night. (L,D)
Day 2: My Tho – Tra Vinh (40km)
Today we combine cycling with ferry rides to get our isolated and fascinating destination of Tra Vinh.. From here we have time to explore this most remarkable of areas. Tra Vinh is home to over 300,000 ethnic Khmer who keep their culture alive including their practice of Theravada Buddhism. Here we can see authentic Khmer pagodas including the Ong Met Pagoda as well as the colourful and ornate Chinese Ong Pagoda. (B,L,D)
Day 3: Tra Vinh – Ho Chi Minh City (30km)
