Tarutao National Park is one of Asia’s oldest marine parks and the reefs are in excellent condition. Within easy reach of our dive centre are over 30 islands and hundreds of reefs.

There is an abundance of soft and hard corals to see and a wealth of sea life to enjoy from the occasional large pelagic like whale sharks and devil rays to a rich tapestry of macro life.

Itinerary / Highlights

Sail Rock

An underwater ridge with lots of interesting marine life and hard corals. Occasionally hawksbill turtles come to feed on the coral.
Depth: 5 – 18 mtr. Currents: Mild.
Highlights: Hawksbill Turtle, Sting rays, Giant puffer fish, Batfish

Koh Pung

A very diverse and colourful dive site. Large rock outcrops, covered in soft corals in stunning colours and gorgonian sea fans give way further down to big boulders covered in white and purple soft corals.
Depth: 5 – 35 mtr. Currents: Mild to very strong.
Highlights: Manta Ray, Octopus, Pipe fish.

Stonehenge

2 minutes from the dive centre an impressive submerged granite pinnalce rises up from the seabed. The topography alone makes it worth a visit. Leopard sharks, big schools of barracuda’s, trevallies and fusiliers all frequent here. Brown marbled groupers and honeycomb morays inhabit the place as well as some enormous giant morays.

Night dive

As the sun goes down nocturnal life begins. Corals and feather stars turn into swaying tendrils and feeding tubes. Crustaceans come out to feed. Moray eels, sting rays, barracuda’s and octopus start their evening hunt. Only 5 minutes away, the boat departs at sunset, back in time for dinner.

Accommodation Details

At Castaway Resort the spirit of "The Beach" is brought to life. Amid the beautiful setting nature has given Koh Lipe, our spacious wooden bungalows and large chill out deck overlooking the beach definitely make Castaway the most atmospheric of Koh Lipe´s resorts.

There is a choice of 5 types of accommodation at the Castaway Resort:

COMFY BUNGALOWS
Not far from the beach our Comfy bungalows have garden views and a large deck with hammocks and cushions for chilling. The main room has a comfortable queen size double bed with hill tribe bedspread and cushions all covered with a mosquito net. The bathroom has a western toilet, cold water shower and sink. There is a sturdy wooden chest to lock your things in.

SEA BREEZY BUNGALOW
Book a Sea Breezy bungalow and enjoy views of the blue green sea lapping at the beach. Two storeys tall our breezy bungalows are the coolest bungalows on Koh Lipe.

The upstairs bedroom has a comfortable queen size double bed and the glass doors open out onto a balcony connecting you with nature. Natural breezes are funnelled into the room keeping you cool, and if that's not enough there is a large ceiling fan too. In each room there's a sturdy wooden chest with a pad lock so you don't have to worry about your stuff. The large downstairs bathroom has a western toilet, cold water shower, sink and storage space.

BEACH FRONT BREEZY BUNGALOWS
Two storeys tall our Breezy Bungalows are the coolest bungalows on Koh Lipe. And the coolest of our Breezy bungalows are our Beach Front Breezy Bungalows. Right on the beach with uninterrupted views, you can't get any closer to the sea than this.

GARDEN BREEZY BUNGALOWS
Our Breezy bungalows have two storeys, with a deck and a bathroom downstairs and a bedroom upstairs that has double doors opening out onto a little balcony. The upstairs bedroom has a comfortable double bed with hill tribe bedspread and cushions, and a mosquito net hanging over the bed. The bedroom is cooled by the natural breezes funnelled into the room, if that's not enough there is a large ceiling fan to keep you cool. To keep your stuff safe there is a sturdy wooden chest with a padlock. The large downstairs bathroom has a western toilet, cold water shower, sink and storage space.

HOUSE
At the back of the resort furthest from the beach we have several houses. With 2 bedrooms, a shared bathroom and a fantastic large deck on the second floor for hanging out, this is a good option for friends or families. The upstairs bedroom has a double bed with a mosquito net and a large ceiling fan. The downstairs bedroom has 2 single beds with mosquito nets and one wall mounted fan. The large shared bathroom has a western toilet, cold water shower and sink.

In our diving courses we use Aqualung Seaquest Wave BCDs. A Buoyancy Control Device (BCD) is a crucial piece of equipment that any novice diver has to master. The Aqualung Seaquest Wave BCDs are traditional jacket style BCDs and are comfortable, tough and functional. Worldwide they are the BCD of choice for teaching beginners to dive.

For more experienced divers we have Halcyon Wings. No other system in the world provides better balance or less drag. The Halcyon Wings System came from the "Doing-It-Right" diving movement developed by the Global Underwater Explorers (GUE). The DIR system of diving is a holistic system that blends an emphasis on safety with the world's most robust equipment configuration. DIR is internationally renowned for its success, simplicity and safety. More experienced divers love the performance of this configuration and we are the only dive centre on Koh Lipe using the Halcyon Wings.

We take pride in our equipment and service it all personally. Simon our dive shop manager is an ASSET trained SCUBA service technician. We believe that if you take care of your equipment it will take care of you.
