DAYS 1 - 5, Victoria Falls, Kafue, Malawi
Our camp is beside the Upper Zambezi River and a great base from which to explore Victoria Falls. Numerous exciting activities are available – white water rafting, scenic flights, canoeing,Gorge swinging or elephant back safaris. We also visit the Victoria Falls themselves. From Livingstone we continue north pausing at the Kafue River for a cruise and visit to local village. Continue through Lusaka to Malawi, the ‘warm heart’ of Africa. Stopping en route at Lilongwe we arrive at enormous Lake Malawi – the third largest lake in Africa - where we camp on the golden sandy beaches, relax, and meet the famously friendly locals. the Victoria Falls themselves. From Livingstone we continue north through rural Zambia, by passing Lusaka to Malawi - the 'warm heart' of Africa. We pass through Lilongwe to Malawi's main attraction, the enormous Lake Malawi - the third largest lake in Africa. Camp on the golden sandy beaches for a few days of relaxation.
DAYS 6 - 12, Malawi, Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar
We continue along the lakeshore and into Tanzania. Travelling through some remote areas, we pass through Mikumi National Park before reaching the Indian Ocean coast and port city, Dar es Salaam. ‘Dar’ is Tanzania’s main commercial centre and the jump-off point for Zanzibar - the ‘Spice Island’! Time here is at your leisure. Rich in history, Zanzibar offers a blissful mix of exotic spice markets, winding alleyways and old palaces as well as sparkling, blue ocean and long stretches of palm-fringed sands.
DAYS 13 - 21, Serengeti Plains, Nairobi
Back on the African mainland we travel back inland where, in clear weather, we may spot snow-capped Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak (5895m), as we drive towards Tanzania’s safari capital, Arusha. Hold a snake - if you dare - in the Meserani Snake Park and make friends on a guided walk to the local village to learn something of Masai culture. From Arusha we depart in 4x4 vehicles for a 3-day game viewing safari in Tanzania’s premier parks, experiencing close wildlife encounters in the deep basin of the Ngoronogoro Crater and the open plains of the Serengeti. We game drive through exciting scenery by day and camp out under the stars, listening to the sounds of Africa by night! We return to Arusha for a final day’s drive across the border into Kenya and finish our tour in Nairobi.
