Surf Zone is the largest windsurf school on the island with two locations from which to windsurf from. With a range of quality boards and sails, windsurfer can choose to windsurf in the Bay of Santa Maria or on the West Coast 500meters from the World Famous Wave spot Punta Preta. With two different sets of conditions, windsurfers have a choice of:
flat vs wavey waters
side-off vs side on wind
access to different wave spots
stronger vs medium wind

Hourly, 5/10hour cards, & weekly rentals
Weekly rentals have full use of wind surf material at both locations (Riu & Bay of Santa Maria)

Wind
Dec to May stronger side off winds (avg. 20-26knots-at the Riu location as this is windiest of all the windsurfing spots on the island) Conditions are perfect for more intermediate and advanced wind surfers. Flat water and strong winds provide perfect conditions for those wind surfers wanting to speed sail, jibe or free style.
In the Bay of Santa Maria conditions shift between flat and wavey waters. Avg 18-21knots.
June to November wind tends to be lighter winds (avg 12-16knots). Conditions are more ideal for beginner to intermediate wind surfers, at both locations.
** On days with no wind, long term renters are welcome to use one of Surf Zone many surf or body boards for a couple of hours.
