& Highlights |

Day One
Flights, arrivals, and introduction
You will be greeted at Kiruna Airport and transferred the short distance to your accommodation. A welcome drink and short meeting with your guide to discuss the days ahead are followed by dinner.
Day Two
Sami, reindeer and Aurora husky sledding
Today provides the perfect introduction to Lapland. You will visit the home of Nils Anders Kuhmunen one of the most respected Sami reindeer men in Kiruna. You will meet the reindeer, have the opportunity to feed them and take a short reindeer-pulled sleigh ride. You will learn about the Sami people, the lives of the herders and the importance of the reindeer to this area. A simple lunch will be served in Nils Anders’ traditional wooden Lavvo.
Tonight you will be taken to meet your dog teams before heading out into the darkened landscape. The dog’s excitement is truly infectious as you settle onto the sled. The silence of the forest seems even more pronounced in the darkness and makes the experience all the more memorable and exhilarating. You will spend the evening searching for the spectacular Northern Lights and have dinner cooked around an open fire – fantastic!
Day Three
Wilderness moose safari
You will be driven to the remote hamlet of Nikkaluokta around 1hr from Kiruna. From there you travel by snowmobile through the forests before continuing on foot using snowshoes to track the wildlife and hopefully view the huge moose. Lunch will be served in a wooden hut surrounded by some of the highest mountains in Sweden.
Day Four
Snowmobiles and the ICEHOTEL ®
There is no better way to travel through the stunning winter landscape than on a snowmobile. The exhilaration as you drive through the forests and across frozen lakes is amazing. Approximately 3.5 hours.
You will then head for lunch in the warm restaurant at the world famous ICEHOTEL® before joining your guided tour. The ICEHOTEL® is an incredible sight. Whether you admire it for its beauty, art, engineering or scale, it is spectacular. Made solely from Torne River ice the hotel comprises of a reception, Absolut icebar®, individually designed and sculpted suites and more simple ice rooms. You will have plenty of time to explore and admire before heading back to Kiruna.

Kiruna
Kiruna is just 9 miles from the ICEHOTEL® and 1 hour from the Kebnekaise Mountains. Situated 145kms north of the Arctic Circle, this really is a wilderness town.
The vast iron ore mine is a dominant feature. However, without this the town would not exist today and we wouldn’t have such a great destination! There is a small shopping district, a magnificent church and a very friendly atmosphere in this modern town.
Hotel Scandic Ferrum
This modern and very comfortable hotel in the centre
of Kiruna offers high quality, newly renovated rooms and
a good range of food, locally sourced where possible.
The hotel has a large sauna area available to all guests free of charge - the perfect way to relax. All rooms are en-suite, have cable television and are comfortably furnished. The central location is ideal for exploring the town. Scandic also pride themselves on their very sound environmental policy.
ICEHOTEL®
Why not incorporate an overnight stay at the ICEHOTEL® into your Lapland holiday? With a choice of bedrooms and suites all sculpted from snow and ice, sleeping here represents a once in a lifetime experience.
Your bed is carved from Torne River Ice and covered with one of nature’s most effective heat insulators.......reindeer skins. Even in temperatures as low as -5°C the skins combined with your expedition grade sleeping bag ensure a comfortable night’s sleep. |
