Epidavros Flotilla

Set sail from Sunsail’s base in the Peloponnese on an Epidavros flotilla holiday in the stunning sailing grounds of Greece’s Saronic Gulf.

This is a mythological land steeped in ancient history, with archaeological sites to explore (including the famous amphitheatre at Epidavros where you may be able to attend a performance in high season) and striking architecture to admire.

Rugged hillsides, picturesque harbours and excellent eating in a wide variety of restaurants from traditional tavernas to the chic cafes of cosmopolitan Poros complete the picture, bringing together all the essential elements for a superb Greek flotilla sailing holiday.

Epidavros is located on the opposite side of the Saronic Gulf to Athens. This flotilla sailing offers scenic, line-of-sight coastal cruising, suitable for confident sailors with a reasonable amount of experience.

In spring, there are good light sailing conditions with stronger Meltemi winds in summer although not as strong as in the Sporades. Winds are generally consistent and from a southerly direction, ranging from 5 -20 knots (6 - 23 mph), which tend to drop off in the evening.

The tidal range is minimal and summer temperatures average a very pleasant 30 C (86 F).

Itinerary / Highlights

Day 1
Arrive at flotilla base, Epidavros
Make a trip ashore to the ancient amphitheatre dating back to the 6th century BC, famous for its legendary acoustics.

Day 2
Perdika & 13 miles, 2 hours
This delightful coastal village on the south west tip of Aegina is a very beautiful and picturesque town, popular with visitors and locals alike.

Day 3
Hydra & 15 miles, 2½-3 hours
As you approach this lovely island the pine trees appear dotted across the hillsides and the whitewashed houses start to glint in the sunlight.

Day 4
Free sailing
Your Lead Crew can recommend places to visit and overnight stops.

Day 5
Poros
Following a picturesque sail to this cosmopolitan island, you will be spoilt for choice with a host of dockside cafes and tavernas to chill out in.

Day 6
Korfos & 20 miles, 3 hours
Head ashore, to this traditional fishing village, to the local beach or settle into your surroundings over a refreshing drink at one of the local tavernas while you watch the sun set.

Day 7
Return to flotilla base & 10 miles, 2 hours

This gives you the flexibility to head straight to the base or spend a few days ashore exploring the historical cities of Greece before joining your Flotilla on the Saturday.
