About the hotel
Designed by the Architect Silva Sardina, the Grande Hotel do Porto opened its doors in 27th March 1880. It was thought to be the first Grand Hotel in town with all the glory of the end of the century. Opposite to everything that was made then, the luxury of the hotel could be seen in many details of its interior decoration: the French mirrors, the golden florins, the sumptuous marble columns. The hotel has 94 rooms in total, divided by 86 rooms and 8 suites. All rooms are non smoking and one of the rooms is specially adapted for disabled guests. The Renascence Restaurant is one of the hotel's most emblematic areas. The room, where buffet breakfast is served every day, breeds charm and elegance. Once the hotel Winter garden, today the spaces holds the barDouro Bar has the relaxing environment ideal for a drink in the end of the day.With classic features, this lounge offers guests a place to restore energies, to read the main newspapers, to talk or simply to rest, between the atmosphere created by the heavy curtains, the sofas and wall clock with local time always updated and of course, the marble columns that named the room.
Directions
The main roads to access the airport are the PortoLisbon highway, the IP4 linking Vila Real and Bragança, the A3 linking Porto and Braga as well as the IC 1 and IC 24.
