Highlands of Cochamo Valley
Get inside of the exuberant rainforest with ancient trees like the Alerce -the second most long-lived tree in the world- that can live 3.500 years and reach heights of 50m.
We will cross rivers using traverses, climb up to the tree line to have spectaculars views of the valley and rappel down to the valley.

Itinerary / Highlights
Day 1 Puerto Varas / Las JuntasWe drive down the scenic coastal road that will take us to the town of Cochamo located by the Reloncavi Estuary, the first Fjord of Patagonia. Here we will meet with the local guide (arriero) to load the horses that are going to carry all our gear. Hike up the valley covered with rainforest and amazing views of granite walls. We will go around the Juntas Valley, with the ones who still have energy.

Day 2 Las Juntas / Arcoiris Hill
Today is a big day, when the sun rises we will be surrounded by granite mountains. We will climb up and into the forest having a close look of mañÃos, coigües, alerces and lenga trees. After 5 hours walking and climbing 2 fix ropes (easy and safe to do) we will be in the highlands of Cochamo Valley, place of Condors and climbers. After a nice lunch we will walk back to Las Juntas to celebrate the day.

Day 3 Las Juntas / Puerto Varas
We will have a good breakfast to start our trip back to Puerto Varas. We will walk for 9km / 5.6mi back to the road only this time with the inclination on our side and there our private van will be waiting for us to take us back to Puerto Varas. As an alternative for this last day in Cochamo, we offer the possibility of hiring horses to ride back. Price $20.000 per person

Refugio Cochamo
From the Refugio, centrally located, you have excellent views of the surrounding valley - granite walls, waterfalls, rivers and amazing forest - making it an ideal base for hiking, climbing, beach day, fishing and other excursions. Located at the center of the valley just across from where La Junta River meets the Cochamo River, the newly built Refugio is run by its owners Daniel, Silvina, Zen and friends, all nature lovers. It offers a shared bunk room for 18 people and two private rooms with double bed, breakfast included. You can prepare your own food in the shared kitchen or have meals prepared for you.
