España Escape offer specialist riding holidays with your base at our luxury villa on the Andalucian coast of Spain. At España Escape we use three riding centres, allowing you to experience the varied terrain and scenery of Southern Spain, but still know that you are always going back to your luxury villa base to relax. All the riding centres have experienced English speaking guides and have horses to suit all standards.

The main stables we use is situated in the hills behind Malaga . The owner, Kalle, is very experienced and has lived in this area for many years, so he knows the terrain like the back of his hand. During your rides through the hills, farmland, fruit trees and river beds he tells you about the local wildlife, history, culture, and traditional farming.

The ranch has a very good selection of horses from the placid, quiet ones for total beginners, to the more spirited for those who can ride and like a challenge. All the horses are schooled to a very high standard and have character, strength, temperament, and unquestionable courage. Just let us know your experience and the type of ride you want, and the guides can then choose the right horse to match your requirements. You are made to feel very safe with Kalle, and if you aren’t such a confident horse rider he will soon relax you. He does not use the normal English saddles, but Western saddles like the cowboys. These are a lot more comfortable when beginning or when on a day trek, a bit like having a sofa strapped to the back of the horse.

The riding centres behind the villa offer rides through the National Park with fantastic views of the mountains and over the Lake Viñuela which changes colour throughout the day and evening, so a camera is a must. With a smaller choice of horses the numbers do have to be kept to 5, with a requirement for some experience.

This area has a number of treks through fantastic countryside, with varied terrain and scenery. Andalucia with its beautiful landscapes, impressive mountains, and rich historic culture is a true paradise for those who love horseback riding. Ride along stunning mountain trails, over sandy plains, through river-beds, avocado-orange groves, and enjoy the beautiful horses of Andalucia.
