The Icelandic Horse is an extraordinary animal still possessing the natural five gaits and traits of the old European horse. Purebred for over 1000 years, it has the natural five gaits walk, trot, canter, tolt, and flying pace. The tolt is the most popular four beat gait as it takes the rider on a smooth ride that can vary in speed. The flying pace is a two beat gait that can make the rider feel as though one is flying.
