A magnificent setting for those wishing to shake off the winter blues and paddle in a warm country, experiencing what this amazing place has to offer.

Surrounded by stunning red cliff faces and under the warm heat of the Moroccan sun, our paddling trip takes us down the Ahansal River. Pouring magnificently from the High Atlas Mountains, this is a superb location for a week of relaxed paddling. The river certainly has a few rapids to keep you on your toes, but all in all a very chilled out experience. The scenery is breathtaking, the evenings warm and relaxed on the riverside with luxurious meals prepared over an open fire. The perfect escape from the cold winter.

The trip finishes with time to check out the magical souks and atmosphere of Marrakesh and then 3 days of awesome surf on the Atlantic Coast of Essaouira – what a blast!

Itinerary & Highlights

Day One
Arrive in Marrakech and be met by one of our guides. Transfer to hotel and relax. Explore the local restaurants and culture

Day Two
Breakfast at the hotel followed by drive across Morocco into the heart of Atlas Mountains, stopping for lunch enroute. Arrive at campsite for evening meal amidst some of the most stunning scenery you will ever see

Day Three
Before starting the river we have a full safety briefing and practice our paddle technique. It is then onto the river to run our first few rapids and on down through the town of Tilouguite and to our first nights camp

Day Four
More roller coaster rapids and some great play waves as we head down the river and enjoy this amazing country, before pulling into our evenings camp at the river side

Day Five
Rapids come thick and fast as we run the best whitewater Morocco has to offer. After lunch we walk up a valley to a nearby Casbah as we relax and sample some Moroccan hospitality. We surf and play our way down the river we camp for the night amidst one of Morocco’s amazing gorges

Day Six
The last day on the river is one of the most memorable with amazing scenery as we pass through the rivers most spectacular gorges before emerging out into Lake Bin El Quidane. We will then load our kayaks onto the gear raft and motor across the lake courtesy of one of the local boat owners as we sit and relax and take in the scenery. All the gear is packed away and we then drive back to Marrakech and to your hotel

Day Seven
Free day to explore the majestical city of Marrakech and its infamous Souk (market). The main focal point of Marrakech is a huge square in the old part of tow – Djemaa el-Fna which really come alive in the evenings between 7 and 9pm

Day Eight
We drive to the famous Jimmy Hendrix Beach and setup up camp on the beach before taking our boards and kayaks into the Atlantic surf. The afternoon can be spent surfing or exploring this gem of a coastal town

Day Nine
Roll out of bed and hit the surf – it doesn’t get any better than this!

Day Ten
Flights normally depart Marrakech around midday, so chance for a last surf before heading back to Marrakech and the airport for flights home
