Khumbu Climber
This wonderful trek takes us into the heart of the Khumbu, and visits Everest Base Camp. An ascent of Kala Pattar (5545m), is good acclimatisation and gives us magnificent close-up views of Everest.
Leaving the main trail we cross the little-used Kongma La to camp in a cirque below Pokalde Peak (5806m). Here we can practice our scrambling skills and tackle our second peak.
We then move into the Imja Valley to the base of Island Peak. The climb of Island Peak (6189m) is challenging, involving scrambling on rock, an ascent of a snow face and then tackling the final ridge.
For those who are well acclimatised, determined and have the energy, the views from the top provide some of the most striking scenery in the Khumbu.
