Kitesurfing Holiday El Yaque
El Yaque is the perfect spot for beginners and advanced kitesurfers. The mornings are excellent for practising, perfect conditions for beginner and intermediate kitesurfers, because there is mostly light wind between 2- 3 Bft. The wind will pick up in the afternoon from 4 to 7 Bft.
The kitesurfing conditions are very straightforward. There is usually no shore break, the beach and underwater is sandy and it is shallow (chest deep) for 3-400 metres from the beach, marked by a small platform. There is a distinct line as the bottom shelves away and the water is a much deeper blue. The chop starts building up and even further out you can get some reasonable sized swell coming down the channel between Margarita and Coche.
From the beach you can see Coche in the distance. If you like blasting on really flat water, it is worth joining a day trip there. The wind blows across the salt flats and beach, giving a perfect speed track. It can also be popular with sailing yachts that drop their anchors close to the beach and sit just offshore. You should be able to check before you go if it's likely to be busy.

SKYRIDERS, EL YAQUE
For those wishing to have an introduction to kitesurfing or train with the best the safest and most processional center is Skyriders, a division of the world renown Club Mistral company.
The center has an ideal location on the main beach of El Yaque with a good size private grassed area for kiting up. This is essential in El Yaque as the beach is quite shallow and busy so it is important to have a fended off area. The launch from the main beach is note ideal as it has a big wind shadow and can be very busy with both kiters and local sunbather who seem oblivious the dangers ! Therefore Skyriders will take students to Kite Beach, a 10 minute boat ride up wind, where there is more space, no wind shadow and an area of shallow flat water to practice.

EL YAQUE BEACH HOTEL
Situated in the perfect position above the Vela centre, El Yaque Beach Hotel has a range of accommodation from standard and deluxe rooms to one and two bedroom apartments. Spread over 4 floors all 24 rooms are air conditioned. The apartments have self catering facilities. Four of the top floor deluxe rooms have balconies with stunning views of the sailing area.
CASA RITA
Just a short walk up the slope from the beach, Casa Rita is a very pleasant family run hotel with spectacular views of the ocean and Isla de Coche. Surrounded by lush tropical gardens, the 20 rooms are spread over 2 floors around a quiet internal courtyard. All rooms are air conditioned with private balcony, mini fridge and safe. We love Casa Rita !!
WINDSURFERS OASIS
Situated in the centre of El Yaque directly on the beach. The Oasis Hotel has 22 rooms, all with air conditioning, fridge, safe and TV. Rooms are also available with a very small balcony at a supplement. The hotel has a lovely quiet garden area with a swimming pool, a whirlpool and sunbeds on the beach. This accommodation is also ideal for non windsurfers and families.
