Kitesurfing Holidays to Diani, Kenya

The reef that runs pretty much down the whole coast of Kenya is only 300-400 metres offshore at Diani and this creates a beautiful lagoon between the reef and the beach. The warm, flat water is perfect for beginners and for blasting. The reef also provides a playground for the more adventurous as it picks up the swell for ramps and wave riding.

Diani Beach This is a beautiful, deserted beach and the lagoon is much deeper, with windsurf and kitesurfing being possible at all states of tide (except for extreme spring-tide). Wave-sailing is also excellent at Galu at mid to low-tide when the wave is steepest. We can arrange transport from Diani to Galu if required (10 mins) or if you are staying a Kite Village it is right outside your door.

THE KITESURFING
The H2O centre, located at 'The Sands at Nomad' on the pristine Diani Beach, caters for beginners & advanced kiters and windsurfers as well as for families with our extensive range of leisure and water sports equipment.
Diani has the perfect conditions for kitesurfing: consistent side-shore breezes, wide beaches for hassle-free launching, warm water and a choice of flat water or waves. Our IKO-certified kite instructors can teach you the basics or help you boost massive airs and ride the reef break. Video supported lessons and the latest Naish equipment is available.

THE WIND
Trade winds blow consistently cross on shore at varying times of year. There are two prime seasons for the wind. The Kaskazi from the North East swings over during November till April. November's “short rains” often cause little wind and very hot muggy temperatures, but in mid/late December the winds pick up, lessen the humidity, and temperatures are at their best from 30 C to 35 C. The Ocean is at its most beautiful during this season.
The Kusi from the South East howls in from late April till late October during and after the “long rains” season of May / June. Air temperatures are from a cool 25 C to 30C. The winds and seas can often become quite strong and rough during squalls, so some watersports may be postponed from hour to hour with your safety in mind, but equally you will get magical days of blue skies, lots of wind, and full blue seas.

NOMADS BOUTIQUE
Centred upon a 5 metre-deep futuristic pool with central gazebo, the sinuously curved central reception area features an atmospheric lounge with a shaded al fresco jacuzzi terrace, a Romanesque bar, an al fresco restaurant offering excellent à la carte dining.

KITE VILLAGE
A cosy-run surfer´s accommodation directly on the most stunning beach in Kenya. This is a dream location for all those who just want to roll out of bed and kitesurf. The house is open from 06 January to 20 March and 20 June to September.
The chilled vibe of the seven bedroom house has an extremely homely feel - each bedroom has a spectacular view of the beach and an ensuite bathroom. All have mosquito nets and ceiling fans. Both the inside and outside bars with entertainment areas are decorated with lots of comfortable cushions and big Swahili sofas. The house is brightly decorated with a Moroccan theme and coastal touch.

SHAMBANI COTTAGES
Shambani Cottages are what holidays dreams are made of! A collection of three cottages and two villas in private grounds on the edge of Diani resort, these traditionally made properties will give you a true African experience. Although not located on the beach they have beautiful tropical gardens with five bicentenary baobabs and a lovely pool area. The beach is just across the road but it is safer to go down to the centre at Nomads for kitesurfing. This is a real favourite with Planet staff!

Pinewood Village Beach Resort Kenya is a small boutique hotel offering an interesting range of accommodation options. Pinewood Village Hotel have just 38 rooms and 20 suites created in clusters around the gardens.
