Ladakh: Stok Kangri Climb
This challenging trek traverses the Ladakh mountains on a little-used route high above the Indus Valley, and offers a chance to ascend Stok Kangri, a 20,130ft/6114m peak.
We approach from the west of Leh, climbing steeply from the Zanskar River towards the rugged Ladakh and Zanskar Range.
This stark region of high passes and wild mountains is softened by the immense charm of the Ladakhi villages and their inhabitants.
We cross one high pass after another, including the seldom-used Kang La where we have chance to ascend Palam Peak, a warm up for Stok Kangri. We continue towards the spectacular scenery of the Stok Range, where we begin our ascent.
The tough, but optional and non-technical climb provides stunning views extending across Ladakh to the Karakorams, the Himalaya and into Tibet.

& Highlights |

Day 1 - Depart London.
Day 2 - Arrive Delhi.
Day 3 - Fly to Leh; afternoon orientation walk.
Day 4/5 - Two days in and around Leh to aid acclimatisation. Trips to Thikse, Shey and Hemis monasteries and Leh Palace. Optional jeep trip to the Kardung La (the highest motorable road in the world).
Day 6 - Drive to Choksi.
Day 7/9 - Steep ascent to Kang La (5260m) and optional climb of Palam Peak (5360m) for superb views of the mountains.
Day 10/12 - Cross Ganda La and Stok La to Stok Kangri Base Camp (5100m).
Day 13 - Optional ascent of Stok Kangri (6114m) The route is non technical, but there is a short, exposed section near the summit. Those not attempting the peak can trek up to the glacier for stunning views.
Day 14 - Descend through Mankarmo to Stok and drive back to Leh.
Day 15 - Fly to Delhi.
Day 16 - End Delhi, morning departure. |

8 nights camping, 6 nights hotels.
Comfortable Hotel, Lodge or Gite – twin rooms with en suite facilities, reliable electricity and water supply, good service and some added amenities.
Standard Hotel, Lodge or Gite – no-frills hotel, usually with twin rooms and en suite facilities. Service and amenities are generally adequate.
Full-service Camping – two person tents sometimes in a private or public campsite that contains a communal ablutions block and other amenities and sometimes in a wild camp with toilet tents and mess tent or dining equipment
provided. All camp chores are done for you from erecting / dismantling of your tent, to cooking & washing up.
In Delhi, we use a good hotel, which has air-conditioned rooms with bathroom en-suite. In Leh we stay
in a simple hotel with bathroom en-suite.
On trek we use spacious two person tents, with a mess tent and toilet tent. All accommodation is on a twin share basis.
Single Accommodation
If you wish to have a single room and single tent it is possible to pay a single supplement of £165 at the time of booking. Single supplements are subject to availability.
Extra Accommodation
If you require any additional accommodation in Delhi either before or after the trip, we can book this for you (subject to availability), provided you notify us at the time of booking. Payment for this must be made to Exodus or your agent, so that we can issue you with an accommodation voucher. Please note that a £5 booking fee is added to the invoice. For
