Lake District and Araucania volcanoes trekking

Trip along Araucania area, climbing 6 volcanoes in day trips. Chile.

This is an overland trip with trekking and hiking through the lake district of Chile. This itinerary, include to climb six volcanoes (some of them active and safe) also visiting hot springs, 8 National Parks and many lakes. This trip is for those nature lovers who enjoy one of the most beautiful regions of Chile.

We also visit Mapuche communities, enjoy local food, culture and rich in traditions. One of the main attractions of this program is the possibility of combining this trip adventure with a comforting physical activity and rest in comfortable hotels and cozy hot springs.

Itinerary / Highlights

Day 1: Arrival to Santiago.
Private transfer from Santiago airport to our Hotel. Our guide will await you at the Santiago airport to take you to your hotel. Dinbner not included.

Day 2: Santiago – Temuco - Malalcahuello.
Private transfer from hotel to Santiago airport to take flight to Temuco (50 min). Here your guide await you at Maquehue airport. Ground transfer to Malalcahuello located in Nalcas National Forest. Night in mountain lodge, dinner included.

Day 3: Lonquimay Volcano (2,726m.)
Breakfast in the morning. Drive 20km. to volcano base. Climb Lonquimay volcano of 2.865m. Down back and transfer to Malalcahuello Hot springs and enjoy a pleasant thermal waters in a Malalcahiello spa. Back to our mountain lodge- Dinner included.
Altitude total gain 1,200m.

Day 4: Conguillio National Park and Sollipulli camp.
Breakfast. Ground transfer to Conguillio park where is located Llaima Volcano. Visit Capren lake, Conguillio Lake, LLaima Volcano and Sierra nevada mountain range. Relax at Conguillio lake and short walk at the lake shore. Contunue driving through Conguillio Park towards Sollipulli eco camp. Snack and dinner included.

Day 5: Sollipulli Volcano (2,120m.)
Breakfast. Climb Sollipulli volcano of 2.120m. 3 hours until the crater. From here we have a incomparable view of this wide open crater (4 km diameter). Down into the crater where we walk on the inside glacier. If we have enough time, we can practice ice climbing in some crevases. Back to our camp where we will enjoy and relax into hot tubs.

Day 6: Drive to Pucon.
After breakfast, we will initiate our ground transfer to Pucon village located besides Villarrica lake. Arrival at lunch time. After accomodate we have a optional rafing trip on Trancura river Class 3+. Lodging in Hostel. Dinner not included (Pucon offer a wide restaurants alternatives).

Day 7: Trekking Huerquehue National Park.
Breakfast in the morning. Spectacular green forest and multi lake trek where we can observe native trees like Lenga, Araucaria, Laurel, Tepa and Coigue, and birds like the red woodpecker. Pleasant and unike trek among old trees and lakes filled by rainfalls. After this trek we will visit the natural and pleasant hot spring of Los Pozones waters of 35 y 40 Celsius degrees. Lodging in Hostel in Pucon. Dinner not included.

Day 8: Villarrica Volcano (2,840m.) - Drive to Panguipulli lake.
Climbing the active Villarrica volcano of 2.840m. Drive from Pucon to Ski area in this volcano. The hike start on lava fields and then on snow until the top of volcano. Here we can feel the power of nature that came from into the crater. Back to ur hostel in Pucon pick up our things and drive to Panguipulli lake. Hotel. Dinner included.
Villarrica altitude total gain 1,750m.

Day 9: Choshuenco volcano (2,415m.)
Breakfast. Drive to Huilo-Huilo natural reserve. Climbing Mocho and Choshuenco volcano of 2.415m. volcano with specials characteristics by his broad plateau right after the crater summit. Back to Panguipulli lake. Lodging in our cabin. Dinner included,
Optional: until March is possible to climb this volcano with skiis. Advise us if you need to rent ski touring material.
Altitude total gain 700m.

Day 10: Camp Puyehue.
Breakfast and free morning at Panguipullin lake. At the afternoon, we will start our ground trip to Puyehue lake. On the route we will visit Maihue lake and Ranco lake until our arrival in Puyehue lake, place of our camp at the begin of out path to crater. Set up our tents and Dinner included.

Day 11: Summit Puyehue Volcano (2,240m.) - Transfer to Puerto Varas.
Before sunset, we will start our hike from our camp 2 to climbing Puyehue volcano of 2.240m. Place whit incomparable views of the lakes and volcanoes of the area. Sunshine on summit of volcano. Down back to our camp. Drive to Puerto Varas. Hotel Arrebol Patagonia. Dinner not included,
Altitude total gain 1.700m.

Day 12: Osorno Volcano (2.660m.)
If group are ok and still in fit after several volcanoes, we will attempt Osorno Volcano. This is one the most beautiful volcanoes of lake District and the most technical.. Great view of all areas and lakes from the snow covered summit. Back to Puerto varas to our hotel. Rest and the beach of Llanquihue lake. Dinner not included.
Altitude total gain 1.700m.

Day 13: Puerto Montt - Santiago.
Breakfast and transfer from Puerto Varas to Puerto Montt airport. Flight to Santiago. Pick up at the Santiago airport and transfer to our hotel. Dinner not included.

Day 14: Santiago - Flight back.
Transfer from the hotel to airport.
