Originating in the Vosges Mountains in the French region of Alsace, the fabled Moselle River flows north along the Luxembourg border and into Germany for 545kms in total where it meets the Rhine River at the cultural city of Koblenz.
The picturesque valley formed by the river is home to a rich tradition of wine making, Germany's oldest town and a strong Roman and medieval heritage. The section between Koblenz and Cochem is known as 'castle country' due to its abundance of castles including the fairytale Eltz Castle considered to be one of the finest in Germany.
Based on a comfortable barge, the MS Fluvius, this cycle journey along the Moselle and its tributary, the Saar, offers an ideal balance of activity, history, culture and relaxation.

Itinerary / Highlights
DAY 1 Arrive KoblenzDAY 2 By boat to Alken then cycle via Moselkern and the Eltz fortress to Cochem (37km)
DAY 3 Explore Beilstein, then cycle to the wine growing town of Zell (35km)
DAY 4 Cycle to Bernkastel with its medieval market square, before continuing by boat (41km)
DAY 5 Cycle to Germany's oldest wine growing town, Neumagen-Dhron and on to Mehring (32km)
DAY 6 Cycle to Konz via Trier (35km)
DAY 7 By boat to Saarburg, Little Venice, then continue on to the Saar River bend (50km)
