New York Kiteboard School - Instruction and Lessons
GROUND SCHOOL (2 hours.)
Ground school is a theory class designed to help beginners to understand the principles of kiteboarding. This class must be taken prior to any flying lesson. Learning to kite on your own can be a frustrating, dangerous, painful, and an expensive experience. Taking this lesson with one of our qualified instructors is a requirement for beginner kiteboarders. This class was developed to speed up the learning process and help students to get on the water faster! However, safety is at the top of the list.
LAND LESSON - LEVEL 1 (3 hours) *Equipment included*
Learn and understand " The Wind Window " . Students will have a hands on a trainer kite. They will learn how to set up, launch, fly, and land a trainer kite. This lesson will allow students to apply and better understand discussed topics in class. Students will develop essential skills that will prepare them to fly a power kite. Instructors will emphasize on flight control, arms, hands, body position and strength. Building confidence, control, and skills is taught in a sequence of exercises. As students progress in their abilities, instructors will gradually introduce them to bigger and more powerful kites. This process rely on individual's ability to digest the theory and apply the technique in order to fly a power kite safely. Our instructors will speed up the process if no noticeable fear, lack of understanding and confidence is apparent.
LAND LESSON - LEVEL 2 (3 hours) *Equipment included*
Learn how to assemble, launch, and and fly an inflatable power kite. A detailed instruction on how to set up the control bar, how to connect the lines, and how to tune the kite. Learn how and when to use the safety system including de-power, safety leash, and custom release . Learn an easy way to perform line inspection and avoid dangerous common mistakes. Exploring the wind window by flying at the edge of the wind window and by using the apex of wind window to neutralize the kite. Experience a relaxed and conscious flight. Learn how and when to use low, medium and high power strokes.
WATER LESSON - LEVEL 1 (3 Hours) *Equipment included*
This lesson starts by showing a series of exercises that will simulate a water start. We will improve students body, leg, and arm position. Great part of the lesson will focus on how to use the kite to pull and how to maintain constant power. A body dragging session will finalize this level. We will teach you how to body drag across the water using your arm and the board to go up and down wind. Learn how to re-launch and self rescue. Feel the amazing power of traction kites.
WATER LESSON - LEVEL 2 (3 HOURS) *Equipment included*
This lesson is designed to teach students to perform the water start and ride up and down wind. Standing on the board requires great coordination of the body, board and kite. All subjects covered in earlier levels will be applied in this lesson. Learn how to ride and how to perform transitions. Enjoy the fascinating world of kiteboarding. This lesson will focus on your ability to perform the sport safely and with confidence.
