Day 1 Lima - Wander among the colonial buildings of the historic centre and visit the Iglesia de la Merced to see thousands of the faithful kiss the Cross of the Venerable Padre Urraca.
Days 2-4 Lake Titicaca - Be welcomed into the home of a local family and enjoy a night surrounded by the big skies, seemingly endless waters and interesting island cultures of Lake Titicaca.
Day 5 Cuzco - Travel to Cuzco across the spectacular altiplano, surrounded by mountain peaks and dotted with herds of llama.
Day 6 Sacred Valley - After stocking up on coloured beads and ponchos at the markets of Pisac, continue on to Ollantaytambo, one of the few surviving examples of the Inca impeccable urban planning of the Incas.
Days 7-10 Inca Trail - Follow ancient Inca trails on a trek past mountain scenery, lush cloud forest and ruins to the extraordinary 'lost city' of Machu Picchu.
Day 11 Cuzco - Enjoy free time to relax or explore more of Cuzco's sights. See worlds collide at the Coricancha complex or head to the massive fortress of Sacsayhuaman that looms over the city.
Days 12-14 Amazon Jungle/Lima - Home to an enormous range of wildlife including monkeys, anacondas and exotic birds, this is one of the wildest places on Earth. After a couple of days in the jungle, we fly back to Lima for a night.
Day 15 Quito - Nestled in a long valley, Quito sits under the gaze of Volcan Pichinicha. Explore the colourful markets and narrow cobbled streets of the Old Town.
Day 16 Seymour - Get a taste of the wildlife to come on a walk around Seymour Island - keep an eye out for nesting frigate birds and their chicks.
Day 17 Santa Fe - Check out a sea lion bachelor pad or hike through a sparse forest of prickly pear to the cliff-side domain of land iguanas.
Day 18 Espanola - See masked boobies, waved albatrosses and red-billed tropic birds on the Galapagos' most southern island. While exploring the island, keep an eye out for fierce looking land and marine iguanas.
Day 19 Floreana - See flamingos basking on a beach of green sand and go snorkelling among the colourful fish and sea lions along Devil's Crown.
Days 20-21 Santa Cruz/Quito - Visit the tortoises at the Charles Darwin Research Station for a final encounter with Galapagos' wildlife before flying back to Quito. |
