From Amman, your long weekend in Jordan begins with the journey south, via Mt. Nebo, Madaba and the formidable crusader castle of Kerak, to reach the desertscapes of Wadi Rum. By 4WD, you’ll explore the hills, narrow siqs and rock bridges, which offer stunning views over the majestic scenery that so inspired Lawrence of Arabia. Camp out in traditional Bedouin-style under the stars, watching the rock colours change as the sun goes down.
Amazing Petra
There’s the opportunity for a camel ride this morning, before leaving Rum behind and heading to the inimitable rock-hewn city of Petra, the finale of your Jordan adventure. Approaching through a narrow siq (gorge) nothing can quite prepare you for your first sight of the Treasury. There’s a full day’s guided tour of Petra, plus free time to explore other sites on foot, like the Monastery and many theatres and temples, before it’s time to leave Jordan behind.
