Tenerife, the biggest one of the Canary islands offers sandy beaches and volcanoes, scanty desert and high mountains, green woods and canyons. One calls them also the island of the everlasting spring because of the pleasant temperatures particularly during the winter months, towered above by the Teide volcano which is often white-snow-covered in winter.

The basalt rock which was formed by the weather and the wind about the years to wonderful canyons invites you to go rock climbing. Hidden in the mountains of Tenerife there are small paradises which guarantee an exciting rock climbing day.

One of the biggest rock climbing areas of Tenerife "the canyon of Arico" is situated here, a dried out riverbed with pine trees and wild boulders. Arico is known to be a difficult rock climbing area because of his overhanging parts, however, in the upper area of the canyon there are also many routes suitable for beginners.

The weather conditions on Tenerife in winter are perfect to practice the sports of rock climbing. The structure of the basaltstone is full of crips and steps, which permits the perfect first feeling for rock climbing also for beginners.

Sat.: Transfer of the airport to the hotel, check In, dinner with your group - information about the programme of the week and getting to know your rock climbing partners.
So.: 1. Rock climbing day in Arico - rock climbing course 9.30 a.m. - 13.30 p.m. - free time in the afternoon to relax or spend some time at the beach.
Mon.: 2. Rock climbing day in Arico - rock climbing course 9.30 a.m. - 13.30 p.m.- a small hike in the afternoon through the dunes to our "little home volcano "Montaña Roja to enjoy the sunset.
Tu: Free day or optional programme - 1 day trip / trekking to the spectacular "Gorge of Masca", starting in the small mountain village of Masca and ending in a sea bay.
Altitude difference: 650 m down and distance 5 km. Pick-up service by boat to the cliff of the "los Gigantes", transfer to the hotel.
Wed.: 3. Rock climbing day in Arico - rock climbing course 9.30 a.m.- 13.30 p.m. - free time in the afternoon to relax, beach and swimm.
Thu.: Free day or optional programme - 1 day trip trekking to the Pico del Teide with 3718 mthe highest mountain of Spain . Challenging trekking to reach to the top to enjoy the view over the Canary islands. Altitude difference: 1500m up and 200m down, distance: 9 km. Descent with the gondola of 3500 m.
Fr: Free day for beach , shopping and relax.
Sat.: Last breakfast with your group and transfer to the airport.

Accommodation Details

Our selected accomodation for the girasol active week incl. half board is the beautiful beachhotel Playa Sur Tenerife located in the south of the island in El Medano with a very good service and comfortable rooms with sea view. Situated directly by the sea you can enjoy the beach, go for a swimm or chillout after your activities. Here is our home for 1 week and starting point to the nearby rock climbing areas and optional tours.
