Itinerary / Highlights
Day 1-2 SantiagoWalk through the manicured gardens, admiring stunning views stretching from the sprawling city to the distant brooding Andes. Take an optional funicular railway ride to the top of Cerro San Cristobal for a close look at the huge Virgin de la Immaculada Concepcion.
Days 3-5 Pucon
Thrill seekers will get a kick out of Pucon's bundle of adventure activities. The town lies at the foot of smouldering Villarrica Volcano, so why not opt to scale the volcano? Otherwise, explore the black-sand beaches, conquer white-water rapids or hike pristine forest trails.
Days 6-7 Puerto Varas
Snow-capped mountains, deep blue lakes, smoking volcanoes, forests and glaciers make up the scenery around Puerto Varas on the shores of Lago Llanquihue. Chill out in the picturesque surroundings or take an optional day tour to mysterious Chiloe Island.
Days 8-10 Bariloche
Travel over the Andes and into Argentina's Lake District, enjoying the fine dining, artisan chocolate shops and quaint chalet-style wooden architecture of Bariloche. There are lots of hiking options in the nearby national park, boat trips on the lake, skiing in the winter, swimming in the summer - and plenty of free time to enjoy it all.
Days 11-13 Buenos Aires
Between its Latin passion, European elegance and superb cuisine, BA is a joy to explore. Nibble on alfajores and wander San Telmo's cobblestone streets, talk football with Portenos in a cafe or get a history lesson at the quirky Museo Evita. The hippest spot in town is Palermo's Plaza Serrano, so head out in the evenings to tango with the locals.
