DAY 1, Blyde River Canyon, Animal Orphanage, Private Game Reserve, Oliphants River
Leaving Johannesburg, we enter picturesque Mpumalanga and visit Blyde River Canyon and Three Rondavels. Later we visit an animal orphanage to see its success stories, before travelling through a private game reserve to camp on the banks of the Oliphant’s River. Experience your fi rst glimpse of wild Africa tonight, as animals come to the river to drink and wander through our camp – an exciting way to start our safari.
DAYS 2 - 3, River Game Cruise, Kruger National Park, Historical Village
Rising to the sounds of the bush we join a river cruise along the banks of the Oliphant’s, where hippo wallow and elephant and antelope come to drink. If lucky we may even spot lion. Our next destination is world famous Kruger National Park. This is big game territory and we may see some of the ‘Big Five’. Kruger is home to over 505 species of birds, 148 species of 50 mammals and many reptiles. We take early morning and late afternoon game drives, pushing north into the less frequented northern parts of Kruger to escape the crowds. Ironically this is probably what the wildlife we are spotting is doing!
DAYS 4 - 7, Kruger National Park, Polokwane Game Reserve, Nata, Livingstone
We complete our Kruger experience with an early morning game drive, before travelling towards the border of Botswana to visit Polokwane Game Reserve. More than 21 species inhabit this scenic reserve which we explore on foot. We then journey through Botswana, skirting the edges of the Makgadigadi Pans and driving through Kasane, until we cross into Zambia and settle just outside Livingstone. Our camp sits beside the wide Zambezi River and downstream, Victoria Falls plunges into the Bakota Gorge in a thrilling spectacle of white water. Enjoy plenty of optional activities while we stay here, sure to get the adrenaline pumping! Included in the tour is a visit to ‘The Falls’ themselves - a highlight of any trip to Africa.
DAYS 8 - 12, Chobe National Park, Maun, Okavango Delta
We return to Botswana and camp near Chobe National Park, where you can enjoy optional activities including 4x4 safari game drives and a cruise on the Chobe River. Continuing on, we experience the immense beauty and vastness of the Okavango Delta and spend two days exploring its networks of waterways by mokoro (dug out canoe). We also take to its grassy islands, taking exciting game walks and wild camping at night amongst the sounds of the bush.
DAYS 13 - 14, Khama Rhino Sanctuary, Johannesburg
We drive south and visit the Khama Rhino Sanctuary, established to breed both white and black rhino. We take an evening game drive in this reserve and hopefully view these amazing creatures as well as other grazing animals. We finish in Johannesburg in the afternoon of day fourteen.
