A 4 days tour to Southern Pantanal, based on Caiman Ecological Refuge, one of the pioneers in Ecotourism in Pantanal.

Refúgio Ecológico Caiman is a very comfortable lodge located in the Miranda region, Southern Pantanal, with access all year around from Campo Grande airport (3h 30min drive).

The Refúgio was one of the pioneers in Ecotourism in the Pantanal, being in the business for more than 20 years. Located inside a vast cattle ranch, it has almost 6,000 hectares of preservation area.

Accommodation for guests is in three separate lodges: Sede- the old Spanish-style Estancia house, Baiazinha and Cordilheira, with a total of 25 rooms with private facilities, mosquito screening, ceiling fans and air-conditioning.

Independent of where you stay, there are 3 daily outings for wildlife spotting.
Activities are not fixed and may vary according to the weather conditions. Canoeing, light trekking, horse back riding and photo safaris with specially adapted trucks are the regular options. Private activities including bird watching and special horse-riding trips can be arranged at an extra cost. The naturalist guides are excellent and the whole operation is highly professional.

Itinerary / Highlights

Day 1: Arrive at Campo Grande airport and transfer to Refúgio Caiman. The transfers have regular times and take 3h30 min.
Depending on the time of arrival you can join the day's activities. In the evening you will have a slide-show and presentation about the Pantanal and a briefing about the activities for the following days.

Days 2 and 3: Early rise for breakfast and morning activity. Lunch and afternoon activity. Dinner and evening activity.

Day 4: Return to Campo Grande airport to meet your flight. Transfers are at regular times but if you want to make the most of your stay, we can offer private transfers.
