Nicaragua takes its name from Nicarao, chief of the indigenous tribe then living around present-day Lake Nicaragua. A friendly and peaceful country that at times, received an undue share of negative press, Nicaragua is really one of the safest surfing destinations to visit in Central America. With more than a decade of political stability, this democracy has moved steadily forward and is the fastest growing "still perfect" surf destination in the world.

The nickname "land of lakes and volcanoes" describes this beautiful and fascinating country well. Two great lakes, Xolotlán (Lake Managua) and Cocibolca (Lake Nicaragua) occupy roughly 10 percent of the countries surface area, and are the largest in Central America. Running nearly parallel to the pacific coast is a chain of 58 volcanoes, six of which are active.

wake up to fresh Nicaraguan coffee followed by a surf session out in front of your accommodations while breakfast is prepared by our cooks: including fresh coffee, fresh fruit juices, granola and yogurt or a traditional Nica breakfast including eggs, Gallo Pinto (beans and rice), bacon and tortillas.

The rest of the morning may consist of some late-morning hammock time, another surf session at one of the MANY local breaks, or a relaxing beach-combing walk...whatever you so choose. After a delicious, fresh lunch, we will head off to another one of the great surf spots nearby for an afternoon session accessed by boat or by truck.

If you are feeling up to it, there is always the opportunity for a sunset session in front of your accommodations, followed by a oceanfront seafood dinner prepared by our incredible staff. If you are up for a few cold beers or would like to sample the Flor de Cana rum, both are available for your enjoyment.

A number of other experiences can be added to your tour to give you the "Pura Nica" experience that you are looking for, including: colonial city tours, hiking an active volcano, taking an estuary tour, surf or yoga instruction, deep-sea and reef fishing, surf photography, estuary kayaking, and much more.
