Located in Øvre Eidfjord in Hardanger, FlatEarth is the ideal starting point for spectacular hikes on Hardangervidda high mountain plateau, Maaboe Valley, Hjoelmo Valley or Kjeaasen, just to mention a few…You can leave your tent and sleeping mat at home, grab your back pack and go to Norway on your own tailor made hiking holiday, respecting the principles of eco-tourism at the same time. The glacier trip with scrambling, blue ice and ice climbing will sweep you off your feet.

You can also book extra activities on the spot, such as rafting, white water kayaking, sea kayaking and much more.

Eidfjord itself offers a unique natural environment. With large contrasts and small distances you can experience the most and best Norway has to offer. Glaciers, high mountain plateau, rivers and waterfalls & and of course the breath taking fjord landscapes. In addition to the physical activities Eidfjord offers you magnificent sights and attractions such as galleries, churches and one of the most modern nature and cultural-historical experience centres in Norway: Hardangervidda Nature Centre Eidfjord. This centre is located only a 200 m. from FlatEarth Activity Centre.

You can combine the holiday with a small sight seeing in Bergen, “the capital of the Fjords”. Visit the Fish Market or take a stroll along the “Brygge” (the board walk) From Bergen it is only 150 km to Eidfjord, the innermost town in the Hardangerfjord.

Itinerary / Highlights

Day 1 and 2:
Hiking. Different day trips.
We recommend to start with the “Waterfall Hike” where you follow the old footpath along the river all the way to the famous waterfall “Vøringfossen”. Vøringfossen is Norway's number 1 nature attraction.

Day 3:
Glacier trip, full day

Day 4, 5 and 6:
Hiking. We recommend the overnight tenting in this period.
In Norway you are allowed to put up your tent everywhere in the wilderness as long as you respect the nature and wildlife as well as possible private property.

Day 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6 you can also book other activities (including instruction and guide) such as
- Sea kayaking

Accommodation Details

The FlatEarth Hostel offers simple accommodation, 2-6 persons sharing the same room. Access to well equipped kitchen + showers and toilets. Separated between ladies / gentlemen. All rooms are cleaned before new guests arrive. Kitchen/showers/toilets are cleaned by the staff twice a week. Should you want more privacy or more service we recommend the cabins nearby (200m – 800m from the Activity Centre), a pension or a hotel room. Cabins from £ 45,- pr. cabin pr. night (4 persons share, no showers or kitchen in the cabin) for the most basic cabins.
