The Mahikan Dog Sledding Tour
Mahikan: The wolf who fears nothing, neither other beasts, nor distance, nor cold; not even the isolation of his demesne… The journey across frozen lakes in complete silence will evoke in you the greatest feelings: those of freedom and sobriety. Come and surprise the snow partridge, the fox, the lynx, and the mahikan along the trail. Come immerse yourself in tranquility, beauty and the grandeur of the Quebecois forest…
Québec is truly a unique land in North America. Unique for its geography, its history and its culture, which together have forged its bold and exuberant identity. Simply put, Québec is warmth, absolute authenticity and intensity, all within easy reach on the east coast of Canada. |

Itinerary & Highlights
Day 1 – Montreal
Arrival and transfer from the airport to your hotel. The guide will then give you your traveling literature. Night at the Roberval.
Day 2 – Montreal / Saguenay
In the morning, you must go to the bus or the train station for the transfer to the Saguenay region. Arrival in the afternoon. Meet the guides and explanation of activities. Night in a log-made chalet.
Day 3 – Saguenay
It’s introduction day! The morning is spent getting the sleds (gear, provisions, etc.) and dogs ready for the journey. The musher-guides explain how the trip will proceed, and pass on some of their immense store of knowledge about how to drive a dog sled, as well as the safety rules that must be respected. Once everybody is ready, we take hold of the reins and set off on the beautiful Saguenay forest trails. Return to the chalets at around 3 PM. Night in a log-made chalet.
Day 4 – Saguenay
We load the sleds, put the dogs back into harness and set off for the first shelter. As customary, our hearty lunches are served outside. We’ll end our day with dinner and a good night's sleep in a rustic camp.
Day 5 – Saguenay
Some quick preparations and we are ready for a new day, exploring the magnificent white countryside. We then spend the evening among good company, warmed by the tales of both guides and clients. Night in rustic camp.
Days 6 and 7 – Saguenay
Two more superb days on your dogsled, allowing you to sample the pleasures of the Quebec great outdoor. Nearly a week without telephones, radio, TV or traffic jams! Night in rustic camp on day 6 and in a log-made chalet on day 7.
Day 8 – Saguenay / Montreal
Early departure in the morning to Montreal. A little time for shopping or sightseeing before the shuttle to the airport.
