About the hotel
The Savoy is one of Kimberley's oldest and most enchanting hotels. The Savoy Hotel opened for the first time on 1 September 1897. It has lived through the diamond heydays, and was rebuilt in 1901 and soon proved to be the best hotel in the city, as is still the case today. In 1921 the Savoy was again upgraded and, as reported in the Diamond Fields Advertiser on Friday, 6 May 1921, So vast are the improvements made that one is at a loss adequately to describe them. From the Airport, follow Olivier Road until the Honoured Dead Memorial Monument, turn left into Dalham Road, at the traffic lights turn right into Bishops Avenue, pass the Fire department until Du Toitspan Road, turn left at the traffic light, pass Kimberely Dry Cleaners and the Savoy Hotel will be on your right hand side.
