Tracks and Tracking Safari Course
Learn how to track wild animals
FIVE DAY OPTION:
Would you like to spend time in a totally unspoilt wilderness area learning some of the ancient skills possessed by the Trackers of yesteryear?
Why not join us for a spectacular five days along the banks of the Limpopo river on a truly unique safari experience hosted by an expert tracker!
You can expect to spend about six hours on foot each day learning to identify spoor and those inconspicuous clues that animals leave behind as an indication of their presence. You will learn some interesting tracking techniques as well as doing a few 'sharpening the senses' exercises.
7 DAY OPTION
The Tracks and Tracking course partners with renowned expert tracker Adriaan Louw to provide an in-depth, hands-on and fun experience in the bush.
Tacking the Big 5 in the South African savanna! You will be based at a stunning unfenced wilderness camp in the Karongwe Game Reserve, South Africa. You will learn to search for, track AND find game.
The bush is your lecture room and the available tracks and signs of animals is what you work with.
The standard of the course can only be of excellence as Adriaan is one of the most highly qualified trackers in South Africa.
All the big predators such as lion, leopard, cheetah and spotted hyena occur on these game reserves.
Preying on the variety of plains game species such as kudu, impala, duiker, nyala, wildebeest, giraffe, zebra and warthog.
Spending 8 hours out in the bushveld every day provides countless opportunities to study the various animal tracks and have the opportunity to track and find the game on foot or by vehicle!
2 WEEK OPTION - Botswana!
Set in the stunning and vast landscapes of the Kwa Tuli ("place of dust") area you will learn to read and interpret the African wilderness! Using the available tracks and signs whilst guided and instructed by some top African trackers !
The Tuli block in Botswana is an amazing unspoiled part of Africa and Southern Botswana. It is known as the ‘The land of Giants’; a wilderness area of big skies, amazing views and massive trees. Tuli is many hundreds of square kilometers, its wildlife is free to move without the constraints of fences unlike many other areas of Southern Africa. It is home to 350 birds and 48 species of large mammals.
This is a brief outline of how the typical day goes on the tracking course
* Right away you will begin looking for and analysing tracks
* The day is very flexible and pans out according to what you might find…
* If the tracks are good then you might find that you’ll stay in that area for a while
* At the end of each day there will be daily reviews of what has been found and occurred during the days tracking
* There will also be 1 to 1 tuition from the group leader, Stuart
* Towards the last few days each individual will lead the group on a trail of a large mammal species
* For a break down of day-to-day activities and full course details please enquire
* A certificate will be awarded to students who pass the course
