Two Week Flotilla, St Vincent

Sunsail’s base at Lagoon Marina on the southern tip of St. Vincent is the perfect starting point for a St. Vincent flotilla sailing holiday in the tropical chain of islands known collectively as St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

This two week flotilla offers the opportunity to explore these thirty islands, each with their own individual charm and character. For the nature lovers amoungst you, this is paradise with encounters with turtles, dolphins and even whales all possible as you sail through the spectacular St Vincent sailing area.

And at every stop you will find wonderful beaches, excellent snorkelling and laid back bars and restaurants, not forgetting that special Caribbean welcome.

St. Vincent flotilla sailing, with its tempting mixture of blue water sailing and sheltered island cruising with line-of-sight navigation, is suitable for experienced sailors looking for the challenge of exhilarating sailing in steady, warm winds.

The winter months are the time to visit for the most exciting and challenging sailing – in summer, conditions are more relaxed. Winds in the winter are generally north-easterly, south-easterly in the summer months. Temperatures range from 24 to 28 C (75 - 82 F).

St Vincent Flotilla
Day 1
Arrive at flotilla base, Lagoon Marina, St Vincent
Sample the tasty local beer and watch the sunset from the ‘Green Flash' Bar.

Day 2
Admiralty Bay, Bequia & 8 Miles, 1-2 hours
Enjoy an exciting sail in the open waters between the islands.

Day 3
Britannia Bay, Mustique & 12 miles, 3 hours
Dress to impress this evening as you head to Basil's Bar where you may find a few celebrities at this famous haunt of the rich and famous.

Day 4
Tobago Cays & 18 miles, 4 hours
This protected National Park is made up of a cluster of tiny desert islands with sandy, palm fringed beaches. For a small charge local ‘boat boys' will bring you anything you need straight to your yacht from fresh lobster to drinks and ice!

Day 5
Saltwhistle Bay, Mayreau & 4 miles, 1 hour
This sweeping sandy bay is one of the most romantic, secluded places you'll ever find.

Day 6
Clifton Harbour, Union Island & (customs) 3 miles, ½ hour.
After visiting the bustling town of Clifton, head to the stylish Anchorage Yacht Club for lunch overlooking the harbour.

Day 7 & 8
2 free sailing days
Choose from a host of beautiful anchorages in the surrounding islands, all within a short sail: Tobago Cays, Petit St. Vincent, Chatham Bay or Sandy Island.

Day 9
Petit St Vincent & 9 miles, 2 hours
This is an exclusive and charming private island with excellent snorkelling. From here take a dinghy across to Mopian Island.

Day 10
Chatham Bay, Union & 10 miles, 2 hours
Anchor here with the rest of your flotilla and spend some time snorkelling along the cliff wall, where puffer fish, turtles and brightly coloured fish can be seen in abundance.

Day 11
Tobago Cays & 4 miles, 1 hour
The huge Horseshoe Reef that protects these five deserted islets, provides some of the best snorkelling and diving in the world. Petit Bateau provides a shaded beach to the north and an easterly beach that is the best choice for beginning snorkellers as it has calm shallow water. You can't miss the turtles that swim in abundance here.

Day 12
Canouan & 10 miles, 2 hours
Head to Raffles resort and golf course, this has become a top destination for the jet-set in recent years.

Day 13
Admiralty Bay, Bequia & 20 miles, 4 hours
Small hotels, bars, restaurants and shops spread along the south eastern shore, strung together by a tiny path along the beach.

Day 14
Return to flotilla base, Lagoon Marina & 8 miles, 1-2 hours
