Itinerary / Highlights
Due to the steep nature of the valleys in Wadi Gnai, it is possible to climb all day long in shaded locations. It is even advisable to take along a long-sleeved top or a pull-over to prevent getting chilly between climbs.Winter is usually a little windier than the summertime, but it possible to climb throughout both. The conditions are always very dry and arid apart from next to water springs or next to waterfall areas in the weeks following rainfall (about twice a year!).
The most sensitive areas to heat are the boulder fields at Bir Wadi Gnai (Little Hampi) where the top outs especially may become difficult due to the warmth of the rock. For the boulders, it is advisable to get there either early in the morning (before 10) or in the afternoon (after 2:30). It is also possible to climb at night when the moon is full and the sky clear.
This can be one of the most enjoyable experiences.
