2nd stage of the summer Haute Route from Grimentz to Zermatt.
This 8 day itinerary offers you the 2nd stage of the classic Haute Route from Grimentz to Zermatt. The 5 day trek takes you through high alpine terrain resting in Zinal, Gruben and St Nicklaus before trekking the spectacular Europaweg to Zermatt. Including a free day to explore Zermatt.

Itinerary / Highlights
Day 1: Transfer from Geneva Airport early evening welcome and trek briefing.Day 2: Depart on the 1st day of the trek from Grimentz 1572m towards the barrage of Lac de Moiry, Col de Sorebois 2847m with splendid views of the Weisshorn 4505m and surrounding peaks. We then descend steeply to the Zinal Valley and Zinal 1675m where we will find our valley based accommodation for the night.
Day 3: We leave Zinal and climb steadily to Forcletta 2875m our high point for today before descending into German speaking Switzerland and down to the small village of Gruben 1822m & the Hotel Schwartzhorn.
Day 4: Another steep climb leaving Gruben through Larch and pine woodland to the Augustbordpass 2894m. Descending steadily an exposed path leads down to Jungen 1955m and finally to St Niklaus 1127m.
Day 5: The stunning scenery of the Europaweg awaits, we take a short buss ride across the valley to Gasenried 1659m. We gain height steeply at times offering great views of the Bernese Alps and magnificent Grosser Aletschgletscher. The path continues over difficult terrain before reaching the Europa hut 2220m.
Day 6: Our final day on the Haute Route⦠we have saved the best till last. The high level path contours the valley through larch woods towards Ottavan 2214m. With the majestic Matterhorn now in sight we make our way down to one of the most famous Alpine villages of Zermatt.
Day 7: A day of rest and relaxation and time to enjoy and explore the famous alpine village of Zermatt. Evening meal at a restaurant of your choice.
Day 8: Farewell and departure via private transfer to Geneva Airport.
