Itinerary / Highlights
Day 1 Beijing-Find a bargain at the wonderful silk markets, see Beijing's vibrant hutongs by rickshaw or try some piping-hot dumplings.
Days 2-3 Great Wall-
Stretching over 6,000 km the Great Wall is an almost unbelievable feat of ancient engineering and a lasting reminder of Chinese imperial history. Trek with a local guide through remote areas, past crumbling staircases and watchtowers overgrown with vegetation. In places the Wall zigzags up inclines and straddles peaks like a suspension bridge, offering a chance to gaze out to mountain ranges in the distance.
Days 4-5 Beijing-
Conquer the last part of the world's longest fortification and enjoy a picnic lunch on the wall before heading back to Beijing. Once in the city seek out a restaurant offering Peking duck to celebrate this Great Wall ramble.
