Helicopter ride over Niagara Falls
Ontario's most notorious claim-to-fame, the Niagara Falls are voluminous waterfalls on the Niagara River, straddling the international border between the Canadian province and the U.S. state of New York. The Canadian city of Niagara Falls is dominated by this natural spectacle, benefitting from the fact that both falls - the American and the Horseshoe - can be best seen from the Canadian side of the river. This has lead to the city becoming one of the major tourist attractions of the world, as this wonder brings in millions of tourists yearly. The city lines the falls and the gorge, and – as well as the overwhelming natural attractions – includes shops, observation towers, hotels, casinos and theatres. Slightly further to the north and south famously lie historical sites from the War of 1812.
The majestic beauty of this area is so expansive – spanning two countries – that a helicopter flight is the only way to take it all in. Beginning with the Sir Adam Beck Generation Plant and the Niagara Parks Commission School of Horticulture in Toronto, the tour follows the Niagara River from the Whirlpool area, over the Whirlpool Rapids and the Rainbow Bridge.
The green, floral scenery of Queen Victoria Park stretches below as the helicopter passes by the American Falls and the Skylon Tower, following the curve of the Horseshoe Falls. Rainbows appear from all directions on this unique experience, combining stunning natural beauty with incredible family adventure. This eagle-eye tour also takes you over the famous Whirlpool Aero Car – a cable car that's been running for nearly a century!
Once you've taken in the sublime power of this landscape from above, get a little closer to the water on the popular 'Journey Behind the Falls' or the 'Maid of the Mist' boat tour. This 30-minute onboard adventure sails straight into the mist and crashing waters of the falls. The noise at this level is thundering, as water crashes around you from 13 storeys above! This thrilling trip truly takes you into the heart of Canada's most favoured and historic tourist attraction – operating since 1846.
