Perth is the capital city of Western Australia, situated in the south west corner on the Swan River, the city is enclosed by the Indian Ocean to the west and the Darling range to the east. Perth was founded in 1829 and has since grown into a metropolis with a population of approximately 1.7 million. Named by the author Bill Bryson as the most remote city in the world Perth is geographically closer to Jarkarta, Indonesia than to Sydney or Brisbane!
