Mongol Rally 1: Brighton to Budapest

Yeah, so far so good! Somehow our trusty steed has made it to Budapest with absolutely nothing wrong with the car yet. Couple of things have fallen off and the flapping broken soft top is deafening on the motorways, but we soon realised that a top speed of 55 was in order to save us filling up 3 times in a single day again, which has sort of saved our ears.

First night camped on a beach near Dunkerque, nightmare sleep and got woken by a tractor doing donuts right by our tent. So back on the roads, shattered already on the 2nd day and heading to the Czech Republic. Mammoth drive that day, stopped for the night in Wolfsburg. Tried our luck at a spot of fishing;turns out poundland don’t do great fishing rods. Another day behind the wheel and we finally got to the Czechout Party in some castle, an hour’s drive from Prague. Swapped stories with fellow teams, collected our free gin tokens and danced the night away, Eastern European style. Turns out 1 guy wrote his car off on the way to Dover so had to hitch-hike the rest of the way! Commitment! read more

Summer X-Games: Who’s taking gold this year?

If you don’t know: the X-Games are the extreme sports World Cup, Olympics, Cup final and Superbowl rolled into one!

This is where skate legend Tony Hawk first pulled off the legendary ’900′ back in 1999 and BMX uber rider Dave Mirra somehow turned a double backflip in 2000.

We just sat in on a press conference with Tony Hawk and friends, and Sandro Dias, one of only a handful of skaters to land a 900 told us he did it at the X-Games the first time he hit the ramp, never even checked it out beforehand: X-Games is where things happen!

Chile: It’s Time for Tourism

It was little more than four-and-a-half months ago that a terrific earthquake hit Chile. Measuring 8.8 on the Richter scale, the quake devastated some parts of the country and forced president Michelle Bachelet to declare a “state of catastrophe”.
