Extreme Sports and The Evolution of Skate
When surfers took to skating on land, a new chapter in extreme sports was opened.
Much has changed since those halcyon days. Yet while trucks are unrecognizable from the first sets that rolled, many of the more casual moves are the same, some becoming classic, even legendary.
But to show just how times and tricks developed a US firm, Ride5 Media Group, has just finished its Evoloution of Skate vid, and we have it here!
Check the 70s dudes and the nutty 90s moves; close-ups and slow mo show in detail how sick it’s got.

Cool video! I love watching the slow-mo clips, they really show how much balance and skill is involved in performing these tricks!
Saw in the news recently that skateboarding hasn’t been added to the London 2012 Olympic Games, despite attempts to have it included. I think the sport has been around long enough and developed to such a high level with so much skill involved that I can’t see why it gets overlooked!
I used to BMX and never really saw the delicate control in skating, until this video. Great moves and great tunes.
Yeah props to whoever made the vid! I’d be sooooo stoked if SB ever made it into the olympics!! Not sure if it will tho… I kinda wonder how much will change in the future about the way boards are made and the materials used. Like will they start using parts made of the worlds hardest metals like tungsten for added strenght/stability/support?? They always say “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it” but its hard to fathom that new technology won’t come into play and change some things at some point in the game.
